Todd, Emma, Rick Joyner and the gang are back! We'll get to that in a minute. Many years ago, I heard about a "missionary" who started a homeless shelter close to where I was raised in Southwest Virginia. He described the people in my home area as "Appalachian backwash" and boy was I ticked. I'm proud of being from the Appalachian Mountains, but "backwash"?!?! The fight was on. I concealed a tape recorder, went to the shelter, acted like I was interested in his work and secretly recorded our conversation. I was interested in one thing: his beliefs. I asked the "missionary" to recommend some books to me. He recommended several and each book contained Liberation Theology. I studied Liberation Theology in Bible College and I'll spare you the boring details, but generally speaking, this particular theology is about redistributing the wealth to the poor, is rooted in Marxism and allows for violence if necessary (Barack Obama's former pastor of 20+ years, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, adheres to a similar theology called Black Liberation Theology). I'm all for people being healed and raised from the dead—when it's actually happening. I was young and very naïve, so I took this [...]

Editor's note: The following was written during the so-called Lakeland Revival which took place between April 2, 2008 and October 12, 2008. Bill Fawcett is a contributor to this blog. Over the last several years I have studied, and written articles about, the dangers of the Apostolic/Prophetic movement. These articles point out the deep ties to the Latter Rain Heresy and other strange doctrines such as Dominionism and Manifested Sons of God (MSoG). More recently, in 2000, there was "Resolution 16" which was backed by an A/G position paper which dealt "with current emphases, teachings, or practices which mark departure from our scriptural understanding of local church government and ministry; and a variety of issues or excesses surfacing in charismatic/Pentecostal churches today, which can impact various of our churches and ministries." So what should we do when a "powerful move of God" appears to surface in these last days? How do we evaluate it? We must first agree that the Scriptures are the "infallible, authoritative rule of faith and [...]
